Greetings CSRA Seniors Golf Association Members,
We are now over half way through the 2023 season and the Leadership team hope's you have enjoyed the tournaments played so far. It's been a few months since my last message, so I want to take this chance to update all of you on a few items. The Leadership team has been working to reduce the time to process scorecards and determine the flight results. Initially we asked players to help by summing up their score, points, and figuring their net result. While this did improve the post event processing time, we found math errors that required extra time to sort out, and in a few cases, not awarding prizes to the correct players. With further work, we have been able to leverage the capabilities of the Golf Genius software, used to set up tournaments. Now we use Golf Genius to process the results. We first used this approach at the June Mt. Vintage event, it worked well and we have used it for the last two tournaments. With this approach, we are now only requiring players to record their strokes and total their front and back nine scores. As we become proficient with the Golf Genius system capabilities, we have added a pre-event email to each participant with specific information on their flight, starting hole, course location, and other links. We have also implemented a results tracker visible to all players so you can see results for your/all flights as they are processed real time, including prize payouts. Golf Genius sends an email notification to each participant with their individual results. Hopefully you are finding this useful. While we have enjoyed playing Bartram Trails, the Leadership Team has determined that our members can be better served by finding a different location to play our October tournament. For this reason, we have contracted with Persimmon Hill Golf Club to play there on Oct. 9, 2023. This change puts our event back on the normal 2nd Monday of the month. We are happy to discuss them with any member wanting further information. Finally, as we look toward the 2024 season, we have worked with The River Golf Club and Ponderosa Country Club to reschedule those tournaments. The River Club will now be held in March and Ponderosa in August. We are looking at all other tournament locations as well, to ensure we are providing quality venues and scheduling in the best months to leverage optimum playing conditions and member participation. We are looking forward to the remainder of the 2023 season and will keep you posted as we prepare the new season for 2024. Best regards, Mike Comments are closed.
