Season's Greeting CSRA Seniors Golf Association Members, The Leadership team wants to thank you for all your kind and encouraging comments and very useful feedback provided in our year end survey. We are acting on your input and will have the results summarized and available to you through the Website soon. We are changing the policy regarding cancellation after the existing Thursday deadline to make it as equitable and workable as we can for the membership and for us in organizing tournaments. We are also moving to a three tee box option for 2024 to allow members to choose the distance and handicap adjustment that is best for them. While we are locked in for our tournaments at Westlake in February and The River Club in March, we are still working to finalize the rest of the 2024 schedule to add the courses you ranked highest and drop the courses you ranked low. If you have looked at the results for the last few tournaments, you may have noticed that we are experimenting with adding a skins game to the tournaments. The membership renewal form is now on the CSRA Website and can be completed and mailed in, but they will not be processed until after Jan 1st, as the Leadership team also needs/takes time off for the Holidays. Please send an individual check for your renewal. The entry form for the Westlake February 12, 2024 tournament is also on the CSRA Website and can be mailed in with your renewal. You'll need to complete it and send in a separate check for it. Please send them a link to the membership application or invite them to join us for one of our play days. New Membership Form: https://www.csraseniorsgolf.org/uploads/1/2/3/2/123286756/2024_new_member_application.pdf For 2024, we are implementing a cancellation policy that moves the deadline to the Sunday prior to a tournament date. Members that have entered a tournament have until noon on that Sunday to notify the Leadership team, via the [email protected] address, with a valid reason for cancelling. As golfers, we all understand that weather is something we are subject to, be it dry or wet, hot or cold, it is weather, so cart path only is not a valid reason to cancel. We will have 3 tee box options for 2024, front tees will be 5000-5400 yds, middle tees (formally back) will be 5500-5900 yds, and the new back tees will be 5900+ yds and will be targeted to be the "white tees". Those choosing the middle or back tees will compete in the same flight and CTP prizes, but their handicap and quotas will be adjusted for the tees they play from. Finally, we are working to add tournaments at both Savannah Lakes courses, Tara currently confirmed for November, Monticello currently under negotiation. We have also added the Aiken GC in September and will be dropping Persimmon Hill as it rated the lowest in the survey. As previously announced, we are moving the River Club to March since they overseed and Ponderosa to August to see how it plays in warmer weather. As we work to add Monticello to the schedule we may need to move some other events around, so the final 2024 schedule will be posted when we have it all locked down. Thanks for supporting us in 2023. We are working to grow the CSRA Seniors golf association. We will not be the least expensive option, but we will work to play the best courses in the CSRA area at a reasonable price and run tournaments that are fair and most of all fun to play. Wishing you Happy Holidays. Mike Balnaves |
