Greetings CSRA Seniors Golf Association,
Looking back at the 2024 season, we held 11 tournaments, with slightly over 800 players participating. We took in almost $34,000 in entry fees and paid out slightly less than $34,900 in green/cart/meal/prizes. Membership fees helped cover the difference, and we ended the year with a small $670 surplus. We added tournaments at Houndslake, Aiken GC, Sweetwater, and at the Savanah Lakes Monticello and Tara courses. We added a third tee option, extended the refundable cancellation deadline, provided lunches at Applewood and Houndslake, and implemented a guest play option in our last three tournaments. Our year-end survey provided very useful information about courses you liked and those you did not, why you did or did not participate, courses you would like us to add in 2025, and other valuable comments/suggestions. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Prices for playing tournaments at many of the courses we play have gone up for 2025, and we are doing our best to keep entry fees the same or only slightly higher. With that said, in 2025 we are adding tournaments at Ponderosa, Eisenhower Lakes, and Woodside Jones, replacing Houndslake, Sweetwater, and Tara. We are focused on keeping our events on the 2nd Monday of each month, when we could get club availability and schedule around holidays, Masters, and avoid conflicts to other senior golfer associations. We are planning for lunches at Applewood and Ponderosa and will work with the other clubs to have food/drink services available after the tournament. We are extending the guest play option in 2025, albeit limiting to only one event per non-member invitee, at least to start the year. We are our changing our payouts for CTP’s. Currently we pay a flat $25 for each CTP. Starting in 2025, we will dedicate $3 of every player’s entry fee toward CTP payouts and then make the payout proportional to the number of players competing from each of the two tee locations. We will maintain a minimum $25 payout for a CTP. In well-attended tournaments, this chanage will increase the value of a CTP won and slightly lower the value of payouts in the flight pools but will not change the number of payouts for each flight. Feel free to provide feedback regarding this change via our [email protected] email. Membership renewal forms and new member forms are available on the CSRA Seniors website on the membership tab. Please encourage any guests you brought to play in 2024 to become new members in 2025. Entry forms for the first tournament at West Lake on February 10, 2025, are available for both members and guests. The master schedule for 2025 is on the website on the tournaments tab. Please provide separate checks for your membership renewal and West Lake tournament as we need to deposit membership checks as received, but we wait to deposit event checks until after the event has completed. You will also find guest entry forms on the Tournaments page for this next and other 2025 events. Please send in a form and a check for each golfer playing. It helps us keep everything straight. Finally, the current leadership team is entering its third year, and we are seeking new leaders to take over and lead starting in 2026. It takes 4-5 members to run the CSRA. We will work with whomever wants to take the lead in 2026 to ensure a smooth transition. If you're interested, please let us know via the [email protected] email or speak directly with us.
